Started out a drop dead gorgeous day to begin the ride with me reaching Punkin Center 3 minutes before Stinky arrived from Brighton. everything went well until 10 miles north of Rocky Ford when I felt a vibration in the front end of my bike. Didn't think much of it until we got into the Rattle Snake grill for a quick lunch break of Green Chile. Then we started out toward Lamar and the front end started to get really weird felling. Stopped for gas and after filling up I checked the front end and found I had blown a right front bearing. OK Sunday!! and I Googled motorcycle shops in Lamar and found one which we drove to and of course it was closed. We drove around back and Stinky noticed a pickup truck parked and the back door open. Sure enough the owner was working on one of his own bikes and so I knocked on the door and after a brief discussion about our problem he told me to pull it up on the pad and had me pull the front wheel. He made a few phone calls to a few friends and low and behold a guy pulls up with a bearing to fit and after removing the bearing and reinstalling we were back on the road in under 2 hours. So bottom line if ever in Lamar CO stop in and say hi to Mike at Main Street Sports. the motorcycle work is just a side line, his main business is firearms, reloading and ammo. By the way the best selection of anyone in the major cities of Colorado for ammo and guns.
Here is a picture of Stinky holding the bike while the wheel is loose.
this one from lunch at the Rattle Snake Grill
And oh by the way here is the starting mileage
Ok so tomorrow we will do a little sight seeing as we all know Wyatt Earp was a famous law officer from here. so we will see what there is to see and move on to places east in Missouri tomorrow afternoon.
