Lewistown, Montana

Not much to talk about tonight woke up to pretty significant rain and had a quick bite at the motel we stayed in hoping it would blow over. IT DIDN'T, so we loaded up with all our rain gear on and left Missoula behind in a spray of rain from the tires of our bikes. Rode for about an our or so to Lincoln and pulled over to to warm up and dry out a bit. We had talked to some other bikers that had came into town from the other direction and said 10 miles over the pass it was dry and warm so we loaded up and headed out. Luckily they were right on the money so we shed our gear and worked our way into Great Falls where we stopped and had a bite to eat.

Fueled up and ready to go we worked our way out of Great Falls only to get pounded by 30 to 40 knots side winds for a good 30 miles. when we dropped into a canyon it started working in our favor and became a tail wind which was great for fuel mileage. After 231 miles we pulled into Lewistown where we decided was a great place to stop and make our shot into Yellowstone tomorrow. Not to many choices for places to stay in Lewistown so we had to settle for a place called the B&B. Really not to bad and plenty of room for us all in the room.

Sunday and not a lot of options for dinner either so we just went across the street to  a little burger place. Was actually pretty good burgers.

Tomorrows weather for Yellowstone is only supposed to be a high of 59, sunny with a lot of wind in the forecast. once we work through Yellowstone we will exit out the east portal and stay in Cody Wyoming where we have worked out a deal with Skyline Motor Inn for $40 for all three of us, SCORE!!!.  Well I should have a lot to share on tomorrows post so stay tuned.

HAPPY FATHER DAY DAD, hope it was a good one.

So Sorry to hear about Uncle George.

  1. What happened to Idaho? And watch out for those buffalo and bears when you ride through Yellowstone. All is well here in Colorado, hot dry and fires out of control.
